Nashville Rotary Service Trust

“Our Tradition of Service to the Community”

History:

Since 1913, the members of the Rotary Club of Nashville have shared a proud tradition of providing organized community service for those in need. As a leading civic club in our region, we rely on members for contributions and personal volunteer service to ensure the continued success of our humanitarian efforts. This member commitment is what makes the Rotary Club unique.

The Nashville Rotary Service Trust, a 501 (c3) charitable organization, was chartered in 1976.

Tax ID#:  58-1319195

Funding and Volunteers:

Since 1996, the Nashville Rotary Service Trust has contributed over $1.200,000 and Nashville Rotarians have contributed thousands of volunteer hours to the Nashville community.

Rotary partners with various not-for-profit organizations such as Affordable Housing Resources, Inc., Bethlehem Centers of Nashville, Boys and Girls Club of Mid-TN, F, Prevent Blindness Tennessee, Junior Achievement, Second Harvest Food Bank, and the YWCA.

The funds are made possible through an annual $300 contribution requested of all Club members, together with 5% of proceeds from Rotary Club investments.

Allocation of Funds:

An Allocations Committee, comprised of Rotarians, accepts and evaluates applications for volunteer and financial support from nonprofit organizations that work to improve quality of life within the Nashville.  The committee recommends projects to be adopted and the amount of funds to be awarded.  The Rotary Club membership has directed the Allocations Committee to:

  • Focus all community service projects on three areas:  Affordable Housing, Children/Youth and Education.
  • Require that all applications for grants be submitted by a Rotarian sponsor and include names of other members who have agreed to work on the project.

Application Timeline and Procedures:

Grant applications are accepted in late Fall with a deadline for submission of January 31.  If you are a Rotarian interested in proposing a project for consideration by the Allocation Committee, please go to the sites below for additional information:

Investment of Funds:

The Investment Committee, comprised of members of the Rotary Club of Nashville, selects, oversees and meets at least twice a year with the investment fund managers; provides guidelines on how Foundation funds are to be invested; receives monthly reports of the investment activity, and administers the various accounts within the fund.
