Nashville Rotary - Becoming a Member - Criteria for Membership

The Rotary Club of Nashville welcomes the suggestion of our members for prospective members in the Club. However, please understand that Membership Committee and the Board of Directors does not automatically approve all names submitted for membership. Generally, the Club receives more suggestions for new members than it has open slots. Therefore, the Membership Committee evaluates the recommendations and attempts to select the prospects that appear to best meet the above criteria to maintain a demographically balanced and diverse membership. How do I become a member of the Rotary Club of Nashville?

Membership in The Rotary Club of Nashville is by invitation only. Individuals interested in pursuing membership must identify an existing Club member who will submit their name for consideration by the Membership Recruitment Committee. Critieria for Membership

To maintain and strengthen the leadership quality and effectiveness of the Rotary Club of Nashville, the Board of Directors considers these attributes essential for membership :

One who is or was president, partner, corporate officer or manager in an executive position with discretionary authority of any worthy and recognized business or profession,
One who has demonstrated service and civic leadership in the community, and
One who embraces Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self”.

Expectations of all active members

Maintain not less than 60% attendance/participation over a 6-month period. To assist in maintaining this level of participation, the Rotary Club of Nashville encourages members to make up Rotary meetings at other Rotary Clubs in the area. In addition, the club gives credit for participation in committees and community service projects.

Participate in club committees and volunteer support in not less than one community service project each year.
Support the Nashville Rotary Foundation with an annual contribution and volunteer support.
