The Object of Rotary is to “encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise.” Rotary is a service organization. Since 1910, the Rotary Motto has been “Service Above Self.”
The Rotary Club of Nashville encourages all of its Rotarians to adhere to the motto of "Service Above Self" by joining at least one of the committees outlined below in our committee structure.
FELLOWSHIP - Susan Huggins, Board Division Liaison
Golf Outing - Matt King, Chair - Help plan the annual fall golf outing (i.e. location, recruiting players, format, soliciting or donating door prizes, etc.).
Reserved for Rotary - Beth Curley, Chair - Help plan, organize and/or promote after-hour, small-group fellowship events for Rotarians (one per quarter typically, i.e. dinner & theater, cooking class, Rotary at the Nashville Zoo, Art Museum Tours, etc.).
Tennis Outing - Walker Mathews, Chair - For tennis players who want to participate in the annual tennis tournament with the Exchange Club of Nashville (usually held in May or June).
MEMBERSHIP - Suzanne Iler, Board Division Liaison
Member Recruitment - David Johnson, Chair - Identify and recruit new members to the Rotary Club of Nashville.
Young Leaders - Sallie Hussey, Chair - Identify prospective members in the young / emerging leaders category.
Member Orientation - Susan Hosbach, Chair - Assist with new member orientation meetings (quarterly). Monitor and ensure that all new members are properly integrated into the club. Monitor and encourage member participation in Club meetings and fellowship or service activities.
Cares and Concerns - Jamie Dunham, Chair - Help call, visit or send cards to fellow Rotarians during times of celebration or need.
INTERNATIONAL/DISTRICT - Dana McLendon, Board Division Liaison
Ambassadorial Scholars - Jim Brooks, Chair - Evaluate applications or serve as a host counselor for Club recipients and inbound scholars (entertain, provide cultural experiences, take to dinner, etc.).
Group Study Exchange - Tom Turk, Chair - plan and/or implement the Group Study Exchange program (such as reviewing out-bound team member applications, or provide lodging, transportation, serve as tour guide, host dinner, etc. for an in-bound team).
Rotary International Foundation - Kay Bowers, Chair - become a Sustaining Member by contributing a minimum of $100 to the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International or a Paul Harris Fellow ($1,000) and encourage other members to contribute.
Youth Exchange - Charles Sueing, Chair - Promote the short-term summer Youth Exchange Program of Rotary International and assist the committee in processing applicants.
COMMUNICATION - Theresa Carl, Board Division Liaison
Photography - Terry Clements and Deb Varallo, Chairs - Be on a call list to take photos at Rotary events as needed.
External Publicity - Joyce Vise, Chair - Help develop ideas for Rotary Club publicity and gather recognition and concerns among membership.
COMMUNITY SERVICE - Margaret Dolan, Board Division Liaison
